Geneva Riddick Faulkner

With a background in education, business, and leadership, her career expands over several industries including education, retail, and local government. Geneva, the fourth of six children raised by her grandparents, worked her way through college with jobs such as dishwasher, tutor, and waitress to make sure that her grandparents wouldn’t have to worry about paying for her college education.

Geneva holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Applied Mathematics and Secondary Education Mathematics, and a Master’s Degree in Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment. She is currently pursuing her PhD in Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment. She was selected as a 2022 Hunt Institute Policy Fellow and has presented at regional, state, and national conferences.

She is in her second term as county commissioner in Northampton County, NC where she serves as the Vice-Chair of the board of commissioners.

The 2023-2024 school year marks her 32nd year in education. She has taught at all levels: GED instructor, elementary, middle, and high school teacher, and college instructor. She has also served as an instructional coach, district testing director, technology director, chief academic officer, and federal programs/ESSER director.

Geneva is married to Shawn and has two bonus daughters Ni’Caurey and Catelynn, and a fur-son Gizmo. She operates two businesses with her husband and is the primary caregiver for her 95-year-old maternal grandmother, who is also named Geneva.

She is the Director for Student Services and Federal Programs/ESSER for Weldon City Public Schools.
