David B. King

Mr. King has been a lifelong resident of the Roanoke Valley area and brings an entrepreneurial background to the NCCAR Board of Directors.  David has founded and built up several businesses in the solid waste and transportation industries over the years including American Waste Systems, and Southern States Logistics. He is currently serving as President/ CEO of Interstate Storage & Distribution, an industrial warehousing and trucking company serving industrial clients in the Roanoke Valley area. During the early 2000, David took advantage of the wireless networking boom and ventured into the construction and ownership of cellular telephone towers in the NC and SC region, building up a portfolio of 7 sites that he eventually sold to a NY venture capital fund.

Before joining the NCCAR Board, Mr. King served for 8 years on the Roanoke Rapids City Council (the last 2 as Mayor Pro-Tem), 3 terms on the Northeast Economic Development Commission, and 20 years as Chairman of the Halifax-Northampton Regional Airport Authority. 

He is a 1988 graduate of the University of North Carolina-Wilmington.
