Since 1992, Gary Brown has served as the Executive Director of the Northampton County (NC) Economic Development Commission which leads the county’s public sector initiatives in generating and sustaining economic growth. He previously served as field representative for North Carolina Governor Jim Hunt, as a staff member on several state and national political campaigns, and as a regional economic development specialist in western North Carolina.

Mr. Brown received his bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Western Carolina University and is a graduate of the Economic Development Institute at the University of Oklahoma. Gary is a Ruling Elder in the Presbyterian Church of the United States, ordained in 1977, and is a long-standing member of both the North Carolina Economic Developers Association and the International Economic Development Council. With his wife Lynne and daughter Elizabeth, he resides in the Town of Conway.
