NCCAR Aerial from East

Here is the full view of all the Phase 1A site from the east, including the building pads that are undergoing foundation cutting. The next photograph gives closer view of the Operations and Engineering building activity.

Northern Views

The views from the north and west of the final cut activity clearly highlight the site profiling and also the complete absence of surface water despite the heavy rains this month

Final Cut activity

Here it is easy to see the remaining cut section in side profile, the leveling of the “ramp up to the northern corner and the new hill taking shape in the upper right part of the photograph

Operations and Engineering Building Construction Underway

Construction work started on the buildings by marking out the foundation footings in advance of sub-soil testing, reinforcement rod placement and concrete pouring. Actual concrete pouring took place a week later (delayed by some more rain!).

Ride Course Close Up

This close up view from directly above the southern corner 29 illustrates the sheer magnitude of the size of the NCCAR site – note the vehicles parked on the paler soils! The track entry / exit area is now graded (following the removal of woodlands subject to certificate approval from the Army Corps of Engineers). The center field will now be covered with top soil and seeded for a continuous area of safe “run-off”.

Site View from South

The final grading of the 2 mile ride and handling course rises from the nominal zero elevation of 124.85 feet up to 135.85 feet which is very close to the original site elevation in the northern region. This is best noted by looking at the blend of the “thin” slither of remaining cut that is being removed in the center of the picture – see the next photograph for a closer look. The large diameter turning circle is virtually completed, including the three large 54 inch subterranean radial drains that guide storm water from the center of the circle into the central drainage swale
