Viewed from the east, the NCCAR site is shown adjacent to the 1.4 million square feet Lowes Regional Distribution depot and Gaston in the background. Note the Phase 1A ride and handling course profile becoming apparent in red soils and the central run off areas in gray top soil. The next two photographs show greater detail of the site development.

This close-up of the main Phase 1A development clearly shows the southern sections of the ride and handling course (in red soils)and the start of the large diameter curve in the center of the picture. The integrated vehicle dynamics area is also starting to take shape in the center picture. Imminent final permits will allow the development of the woodland area in the center left part of the picture.

Viewed from the north gives the best perspective of the site features, clearly identifying the ride and handling course and the graded top-soil areas that will provide safe and progressive run-off zones (to maximize driver safety and minimize vehicle damage). Approximately fifty percent of the Phase 1A site has been developed. The remaining areas in the north (lower part of the picture) require significant soil removal and transfer to the southern area (visible as the darker areas beyond the ride course) and to the eastern stock piles that will form the exciting 2.5 mile extension to the the ride and handling course in Phase 1B.

The NCCAR entrance is starting to take shape. Center top is the gray pad for the Security Kiosk and center left is the pad for the Operations, Engineering and Client Garages. Despite the wet and cool weather over the past few weeks, the NCCAR site entrance is beginning to develop a nice grass coverage around the full amenity pond. PLT Construction’s fleet of construction equipment and vehicles are parked up along the access road during the scheduled down period. Bids will be opened on January 29 for the two buildings.

This is the best view from which to see the entire NCCAR site bordered by the tree line along the southern, eastern and northern edges. I recommend comparing this view with the NCCAR full build out schematic located on the website at “Facilities/Site Plan/The Complete Site Master-Plan” and then visualize the additional features that will populate the NCCAR site in the future.

NCCAR is located 1.5 miles east of Interstate 95 exit 176. The yellow dotted region on the western side of I95 is the 500 acre Industrial Campus that is available to companies that desire a base in close proximity to NCCAR. There are an additional 134 acres of development sites close to NCCAR, some with buildings, which are also available.
